Library Media Center

Welcome to the

 Great Oak Middle School

Library Media Center

Hello my name is Mrs. Chu-Kadeem and I'm the new library media specialist at Great Oak. This is my first time teaching as a library media specialist but I have worked in the educational field for more than ten years. Just before this, I was a tutor at Franklin Elementary School in Stratford for four years. I worked with the third and fourth graders with the Read Naturally program that increased students' reading fluency. Many years ago before I moved to CT, I was a classroom teacher in NY. I taught Kindergarten and 2nd grade at P.S. 92 in Brooklyn and then 5th grade at P.S. 125 in Harlem. I received a BA in elementary education at CUNY Brooklyn College and an MA in Educational Technology at Fairfield University.

I am so excited to be here at Great Oak and I truly love my job! To celebrate our students' work, I created a website to display it. Click here to view.

If you ever need to speak with me, I can be reached at 203.888.5418 or by email.

Mission and Goals of the School Library Media Program

The mission of the library media program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. This mission is accomplished:

  • by providing intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats
  • by providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas
  • by working with other educators to design learning strategies to meet the needs of individual students
