GOMS Technology Lessons
Grade 8: Bridging Science and Technology
2007-2008 E2T2 Grant
Bridge engineering lessons were developed, and then delivered in the Media Center using Great Oak’s SMARTboard, and resources for students were posted in a Virtual Library space to facilitate access. Grade 6: Lighting Up the Lightning Thief With Technology
2008-2009 E2T2 Grant
The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan, provides a high-interest, humorous introduction to the Greek myths. 2009-2010 E2T2 Grant
Making Math SMART is a collaboration between Grade 6 Mathematics teachers and the Media Specialist that incorporates technology into instruction that is hands-on and highly engaging. Teachers created interactive whiteboard lessons that addressed areas of weakness in CMT assessments, and changed content delivery methods to include student interaction on the whiteboards. Also, students used 3D modeling software to create virtual towns using a wide variety of mathematical concepts, including geometric application, numerical estimation strategies and measurement strategies. The technology included in the unit helped to create a 21st Century Learning Environment that extended learning beyond traditional structures and timeframes.
Grade 8: Stargirl2009-2010 E2T2 Grant
